Diocese

‘Diocese’ refers to the geographical territory in which a bishop exercises oversight. The Church in Wales is divided into six dioceses each with its own cathedral in which is housed the cathedra (the bishop’s ‘chair’ or ‘throne’).

Diocesan Conference to be held on Saturday 26th October 2024 at Christ College, Brecon

Welcome to all of you who are new the Conference membership and thank you to both you, and our existing members for your work in the Diocese.

As you know, in response to requests, this year we have extended the Conference to be an all-day event, to allow greater content and shared worship.  We have also moved the venue to facilitate this. The agenda and registration paper will be forwarded to you in September.  In the meantime, please find the following documentation attached:

You are invited to submit a motion or resolution in relation to the above information or any other aspect relevant to the operation of the Diocese. Please send submissions to conference.swanbrec@cinw.org.uk, by the deadline of Monday 2nd September, clearly marking them as “Conference Motion” or “Conference Resolution” in the subject heading.

Submissions will be taken to the Diocesan Standing Committee of 25th September, to enable a response at the Diocesan Conference.

Please note the deadline for nominations is Monday, 2nd September. Please return your nominations to: conference.swanbrec@cinw.org.uk clearly marking the email as “Nomination to GB 2024” in the subject heading.

Election ballot papers will be circulated for voting in September and results announced at the Conference.

The conference agenda and registration process will be forwarded to you in September.
