Bishop

‘Bishop’ comes from the Greek word for ‘overseer’. So a bishop is a senior Christian minister authorised to have oversight for God’s people. As well as duties given to deacons and priests, bishops confirm and ordain.

Lent

Lent is the six-week period leading up to Easter. It is a particular time to confess sin and to seek personal and collective renewal (a ‘springtime of the spirit’). Lent has a special focus on Jesus’s journey to the cross and prepares the Church to celebrate his resurrection.

Deadline approaches for Bishop's Lent Appeal 2021 donations

The Bishop of Swansea and Brecon’s office would like to thank all who have contributed to this year’s Lent Appeal. Could all remaining donations please be received by the end of June so that funds can be awarded to the chosen charities.

Parochial or personal cheques for the Appeal should be made out to the ‘Bishop of Swansea & Brecon (Emergency)’ and should be sent to Ely Tower, Castle Square, Brecon, LD3 9DJ.
- Payments may be specifically directed to any of the charities. If not specified, payments will be divided equally between all four.
