St Michael’s to launch community hub plans
A Swansea church is aiming to make 2025 a year of new beginnings with the launch of an ambitious plan to create a community hub.
The St Michael's Project will see the transformation of the Pontarddulais church into a hub for community groups, with new kitchen and office facilities, and an improved worship space.
The Rev’d John Gillibrand, Vicar of Pontarddulais and Penllergaer in the Llwchwr Ministry Area, said: “As we set out on this journey together, the St Michael’s Project has the potential to bring huge benefits to the local community.
“The idea is for a centre of well-being, a base for all kinds of partners who work in education, and in health and social care.”
The project will be officially launched by Bishop of Swansea and Brecon John Lomas on January 11 at 11am at St Michael’s, and everyone is invited to hear more about the plans.
“What I love is the idea of a local church making a difference to the reality of people’s lives,” John said.
“There is a lot of hard work ahead. We are asking for the support of the local community in order to make this dream a reality.”
