Life events on the agenda at roadshow
Fifty clergy and lay people from the Diocese of Swansea and Brecon got together in Theatr Brycheiniog, Brecon recently in order to learn more about life events and how it is possible to enrich the experience of people who ask the Church for baptisms, marriages and funerals.
The day was led by the Reverend Canon Dr Sandra Millar, head of life events in the Church of England and the Reverend Chris Burr, tutor in ministerial development in St Padarn’s Institute. The Church in Wales has adapted resources which come out of research among those who have asked the Church about baptisms, marriages and funerals. It is core work in the life of the Church in Wales and its people, and, therefore, it is essential for the Church to consider how these things are done.
Every ministry area in the diocese has received resources concerning life events and, as part of this, there is a workbook with questions and ideas for churches to use. There were a number of insights during the day for those who were present considering the fact that the context of this ministry has changed so much during recent decades.
