Faith in Families starts 21st year with new project

Faith in Families, which is marking its 21st anniversary this year, will be helping women to enter the workplace as part of a new project.

The Inspiring Futures scheme is aimed at women over 25 who are economically inactive, addressing any perceived barriers to their contributing to society.

The project will allow them to increase their skills and aspirations and encourage and support them into voluntary placements and training courses in their communities, which will enable them to move on to other activities that will increase their employability.

Faith in Families CEO Cherrie Bija said: “We are all about strengthening communities to inspire, believe and succeed and after the brilliant start of our Brighter Futures children’s project and Shaping Futures volunteering project, both started in 2019, we are very excited to have successfully secured funding to pilot our brand new Inspiring Futures project.

“It will work directly with women over the age of 25 giving them opportunities to learn, develop and grow and the chance for us to reach further into the communities surrounding our community cwtches. It’s a brilliant start to our 21st year.”

Faith in Families has been given a grant from the Active Inclusion Fund for the project, which will enable it to employ an engagement worker.

“We are not restricted to postcodes but will be delivering the support in each of our community cwtches,” Cherrie said.
