Eight confirmed at Swansea's St Mary's
Eight people have been confirmed at a service at Swansea's St Mary's.
Bishop John led the service, his first confirmation service as our bishop.
Vicar of Central Swansea, Rev'd Sam Aldred, said: "Seven of those confirmed came from St Mary's, and one from St Nicholas on the Hill.
"Six of the eight have come to faith in the last three years, showing that when the world is darkest the light of Christ shines all the stronger, drawing people to it, and filling them with new hope and purpose."
Sam designed the confirmation course as a discussion group, followed by Compline, running each week of Lent.
"Because of the great range in ages, backgrounds, and education, there was no existing course that provided the right coverage," he said. "The group includes schoolchildren, students, and retirees; those baptised 50 years ago and those baptised last week.
"I've baptised four of them since Covid."
Among those confirmed were a couple who first came to St Mary's to get married.
"Alan and Kirsty met me about a year ago for wedding preparation. Neither were Christians, since then they have been baptised, married in church and confirmed. They are now regulars at St Mary's," Sam said.
