Day of pilgrimage ‘an opportunity to commit all that lies ahead into God’s hands’
A pilgrimage will take place next month, marking both the rich history of the Church in Pontarddulais and its journey into the future.
Bishop John will join pilgrims for the day which begins at the site of the old church - which has been moved to St Ffagan’s - in Pontarddulais, before moving on to the new St Teilo’s. It will then journey to St Ffagan’s before ending at the shrine of St Teilo at Llandaff Cathedral.
Vicar Rev’d John Gillibrand said: “Both as a parish and as a ministry area, as we journey to the future, we are seeking in prayer to work out what God is calling to us in the here and now.
“In all of this we celebrate the rich history of the Church in this place, and our links with one of the great saints of Wales, St Teilo.
“This day of pilgrimage will be an opportunity to commit all that lies ahead into God’s hands.”
The pilgrimage will take place on June 8, and the timetable for the day is as follows:
- 10am: Old church site in Pontarddulais
- 11am: New St Teilo's in Pontarddulais
- 2pm: St Ffagan’s
- 4pm: Llandaff Cathedral shrine of St Teilo.
“People are welcome to join us throughout the day, but there will be an especial welcome to St. Teilo’s at 11am for church and community members to wish us on our way to Llandaff and St Teilo’s shrine,” John said.
