£500k for St Catherine’s Heart of the Community project

St Catherine’s in Gorseinon is celebrating after its Heart of the Community Project was awarded £500,000 by the National Lottery Community Fund.
The project to transform the church and hall will bring a new café, nursery and meeting spaces for voluntary groups. Once complete, it's anticipated the new multi-purpose community space will be able to host over 50 activities and services for people of all ages.
Rev’d Dr Adrian Morgan said: “This incredible funding marks a truly transformational moment for us and for everyone in our community. The Heart of the Community project will see St Catherine’s re-imagined as a vibrant, inclusive hub — a place for friendship, learning, creativity, and support.
“With this amazing backing from the National Lottery Community Fund (and thanks to everyone who plays the National Lottery!), we can now move forward with creating a welcoming and accessible space for all, supporting local families through activities and services, hosting events, arts, and wellbeing programmes and continuing to serve Gorseinon with open doors and open hearts.
“We want to say a massive thank you to The National Lottery Community Fund for believing in our vision, and to every single person in our community who’s supported us so far.
“Together, we are building something truly special — the beating heart of our community.”
