The first Community Grocery in Wales opened its doors this morning at St Stephen's Church in Swansea. St Thomas' Church, Swansea has partnered with the Message Trust for the Community Grocery - a bridge between a foodbank and a supermarket, allowing members to shop for the whole family at a fraction of supermarket prices - in the city's Port Tennant. All members of the community can join the scheme for an annual membership of £5 per year. This will give members access to food shops multiple times per week. Members will be able to purchase fresh fruit and vegetables, bakery items, freezer and chilled items, tinned foods and toiletries for as little as £5 per shop, helping them save on their shopping budget. The store will be open five days a week, Monday to Friday, at St Stephen’s Church in Port Tennant.
