St Thomas' Church in Swansea is bringing joy to more than 4,000 homes this Christmas time through its annual Love Christmas campaign. In partnership with the Church Revitalisation Trust and the Diocese of Swansea and Brecon, it has joined churches around the UK in bringing bags of kindness to doorsteps. A small team of volunteers from the church - based in the Eastside of Swansea - have packed 4,000 bags with goodies including chocolates, crisps, biscuits and sweets. These are being delivered by hand to 3,000 homes across the east of Swansea. The church has also provided and delivered bags to the residents and staff of Hengoed Care and to the pupils of Gwyrosydd Primary School, Hafod Primary School, Cwm Glas Primary School and Pentrechwyth Primary School.Rachel Bennett, operations manager at St Thomas', said: “For Christians, Christmas is about the good news of Jesus who brings great joy. But for many people it can be a time of loneliness, anxiety, sadness and increased financial pressure. For the last few years we have tried to bring as much joy as possible with our different activities but this year we wanted to go all out to spread joy and hope right across the city. These are small bags of goodies, but we hope that behind that, people see the love and care we have for them.”
