Brecon Cathedral has donated 20 boxes of hygiene products to Brecon Foodbank as part of the Church in Wales-led A Gift for Christmas appeal.The appeal is helping to address the hidden crisis of hygiene poverty which affects 3.1 million people across the UK. The Archbishop of Wales is asking churches to donate a minimum 10 boxes of toiletries and hygiene products to local food banks and charity partners.Dean of Brecon Dr Paul Shackerley said: "Brecon Cathedral has been committed to support the hygiene poverty initiative. I would like to thank the congregations of Brecon Cathedral for their very generous contributions and commitment to the project, both practically and with prayers."A Gift for Christmas is the latest initiative from the Church in Wales to tackle the cost-of-living crisis having recently launched the Food and Fuel campaign to tackle the cause of food and energy poverty.Archbishop of Wales Andrew John said: “It is important that as Christians we are practitioners of generosity as well as advocates for social justice, which is why we launched A Gift for Christmas.“Our churches are at the heart of every community, and we have a huge network of volunteers who feel called to share God’s love and compassion in the world. What better way than to work together this Christmas to change people’s live and advocate on their behalf.“My hope is that every single one of our churches contributes to this campaign so that we can end hygiene poverty in Wales.”
