Michelle’s Boxing Day dip raises hundreds for charity

Three farming charities are hundreds of pounds better off after Rev Michelle Bailey braved the waves on Boxing Day.

Michelle, the diocese’s officer for rural life, joined hundreds of others for the annual Walrus Dip at Pembrey Beach in Carmarthenshire.

Michelle was joined by parishioner Jayne Evans and was raising money for farming support charities RABI, the DPJ Foundation and Tir Dewi.

She said: “We’ve lost so many sheep recently, I thought dressing as this character would help raise awareness.

Michelle is a member of the Brecon & Radnor committee and is passionate about supporting farmers.

She said: “As a rural life officer for the church, I believe it’s important to support our farming community. Where I live, everyone has farming connections. I’m hoping to promote the struggles farmers face.

Donations are still being counted but around £700 has been raised so far. To make a donation, contact Michelle via her Facebook page.
