Number of candidates ‘shows that God is alive in our rural community’

There were 21 candidates for Baptism and Confirmation at Brecon Cathedral on Sunday, including 15 from the Dan Yr Eppynt Benefice.

Priest-in-charge of Dan Yr Eppynt, Rev Michelle Bailey, said: “It’s absolutely fantastic that our rural parishes have produced 15 candidates for confirmation – 12 children and three adults – and it shows that God is alive in our rural community.

“Our younger candidates ranged in age from 10 to 17 and, of our three adult candidates, two are getting married this year and one next year.

“I couldn’t believe the number of children who came forward and at least one of the candidates will be serving in our churches and the youngsters will hopefully be playing a huge part in our harvest services this year.”

Here are some photographs from the service, which was led by Archbishop John.
