Help hit the high notes for Lullaby Trust at Showman singalong

This Saturday (June 30) there is a fantastic opportunity to raise money for a wonderful charity while singing along to the hit film The Greatest Showman.

St Thomas Community Cinema, based in St Stephen’s Church, Port Tennant, is showing the film and serving five Greatest Showman-inspired drinks included in the ticket price.

All the proceeds will be going to the Lullaby Trust which raises awareness of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS), provides expert advice on safer sleep for babies and offers emotional support for bereaved families.

The Vicar of St Thomas, Rev Steven Bunting, has been raising money for the Lullaby Trust since the tragic death of Erin Mulligan, an eight-month-old member of the church toddler group who died in 2015.

Over the last two years over £20,000 has been raised through sporting achievements including two London Marathons.  The latest fundraising challenge for Rev Bunting is to complete the 100 mile (160km) Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 cycle event.

This challenge which must be completed within eight hours takes cyclists from Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, past some of London’s most famous landmarks before heading out to the Surrey Hills.  The race ends back in the capital with a finish on the Mall in front of Buckingham Palace.

Rev Bunting who didn’t even own a bike before signing up for this challenge, is being joined by his father-in-law Rev Robert Simpson. Rev Bunting said: “Cycling 100 miles is a whole different challenge to running a marathon and certain parts of my body are still getting used to the amount of pressure I am putting them under. Thank God for padded shorts!”

Tickets are available for The Greatest Showman fundraiser (priced at £15 including five themed drinks) on 01792 652891 or 07816 421683 or by email to To allow for catering, tickets must be pre-booked and are strictly for over 18s.
