Greater Gower service celebrates deanery churches’ life and diversity

The Greater Gower Deanery gathered together on Sunday for its annual celebration of the life and diversity of the churches within its boundaries.

This year’s venue was St Catherine’s in Gorseinon and were were fortunate to have Rev Canon Dr Mark Clavier from Brecon Cathedral as our preacher.

The worship was informal for a change and very ‘hands free’ with no books and all projected onto a screen at the front of the church. Worship was led by Rev Ian Folks from St Mary’s Swansea who led us in praise.

The readings were for the eve of the Feast of St Barnabus and Mark in his address opened for us the relationship between Paul and Barnabus and the hardship of their missionary journeys, commending us to encourage each other and never to be put off by adversity and to have a bigger ‘vision’.

I am grateful to Rev Adrian Morgan for hosting this service along with the good folk of St Catherine’s as well as those who came, sacrificing a hot Sunday afternoon in the garden or dipping their toes in the water to join together and celebrate all we share.

Rev Canon Peter Brooks. Area Dean Greater Gower.
