Brecon’s street pastors and Shelter Cymru are among four charities who have benefited from Bishop John’s Lent appeal this year.
The money was presented at a special service in Brecon Cathedral to celebrate the work of lay-ministers in parishes across the diocese.
The four charities which benefited from the appeal this year were Brecon Street Pastors, Shelter Cymru, the Holy Land Trust and Faith in Families. Each received nearly £2,500 from the Lent appeal.
Bishop John, who began the Lent appeal initiative six years ago, said he hoped the donations would serve as an example that “as a diocese we don’t simply reflect on our life, our inward-looking selves” but “support good Christian work that is being done to help those in need”.
