Celebration welcomes John to parish

Following the retirement of Rev John Walters, the Benefice of Llandeilo Tal y Bont has welcomed its new incumbent Rev Dr John Gillibrand, formerly of the Parish of Llangeler in St Davids Diocese, to his new living at the Church of St Michael’s and All Angels.

The church was full with people from across the parish and beyond to John’s old parish and colleagues whom he had served with and has come to serve with now were there to welcome him.

Bishop John in his sermon on the readings talked about us all receiving and renewing our own sight in faith in Christ and that it was time not to just carry on as before but to explore a whole new ministry, a partnership between lay and ordained in the parish and the wider Ministry Area of Llwchwr in which the benefice stands.

It was indeed a celebratory evening with liturgy, hymns and prayers in both English and Welsh reflecting the makeup of this community and John comes just as their Christmas Charity Shop is closing for the season and their Christmas tree festival begins. Busy times for a new Vicar with all that lies ahead!
