'Delight' at Cathedral Choirs’ Emergency Fund grant
Brecon Cathedral has been awarded more than £25,000 by the Cathedral Choirs’ Emergency Fund to assist with the funding of its music department.
The £25,800 grant will facilitate the return of full choral services as existed before Covid-19 restrictions were imposed and covers the period of seven months ending 31 July, 2021.
The Very Rev'd Dr Paul Shackerley, Dean of Brecon, said: "With the music department of Brecon Cathedral, I am delighted to receive this very generous grant from the Cathedral Choirs’ Emergency Fund. Cathedral liturgy has been deprived of its choral tradition through the pandemic this year. We have all felt its loss to our liturgy and our spiritual lives.
"I remain highly committed to ensuring the long-term sustainability of the choral tradition at Brecon Cathedral. I am grateful to the music department staff, choirs and matrons for their patience, recognising their deep longing to provide choral music once again in our Cathedral in 2021."
