David presented with Queen’s Commission at St Mary’s service

St Mary’s Church Clydach was host to the Deputy Lord Lieutenant, Roger Smith, on Sunday.

He had come, with a number of Army reservists and cadets, to present Rev Captain David Martin with his Queen’s Commission as an Army Chaplain.  David Martin, who continues as stipendiary curate of Clydach, is a former soldier and teacher, now also an Army Reservist serving with the Chaplain’s Department.

He is pictured here with Rev Andrew Knight, the Deputy Lord Lieutenant Roger Smith, and three of his sons: Oscar, Jasper (in Army cadet uniform) and Felix (who has just joined the Regular Army). The regular congregation were happy to welcome the visitors, Roger Smith being a local man also.
