Thomas Coke Commemorative Weekend

Saturday 4th – Sunday 5th May
2014 sees the 200th anniversary of the death, en route to missionary work in South Asia, of the Revd Dr Thomas Coke. The occasion will be marked by a special programme of events in his birth place of Brecon in Powys, Wales. The commemoration will extend over two days on the weekend of 3rd and 4th May. The principal events will be in the fine medieval Cathedral, formerly Brecon Priory.

Thomas Coke: Looking Back – Looking Forward
The lead speaker will be the Reverend the Lord Leslie Griffiths of Burry Port. The celebration will be followed by tea provided by Pilgrims, the Cathedral Tea Room.
Sunday 4th May 2014 at 11.00am
Led by the Dean of Brecon, the Very Revd Geoffrey Marshall. The preacher will be Bishop Thomas Bickerton of the Western Pennsylvania Conference of the United Methodist Church.
There will also be an exhibition in the Brecknock Museum, a civic reception in the Guildhall and a Thomas Coke town trail.
